Cucumber Fruit (Cucumis Sativus Fruit)
Cucumis Sativus (Cucmber) Fruit has been popular for its cooling, soothing properties since Cleopatra was a girl, and it is still contained in a wide variety of anti-inflammatory, calming, hydrating and refreshing products. These include aftersuns, body lotions, eye pads, skin fresheners and moisturisers, as well as treatments for oily skin and tightening agents for sagging or stressed skin. The literature contains a wealth of information on the use of cucumber for the care of the skin. Among many of the virtues are that it is cooling to delicate and inflamed skin, soothing, smoothing and refreshing. In China, the name for this plant is Hua Gua, where it is also known as “Grandmother’s Younger Face Slave”. This is a foodstuff and unlikely to cause any reaction on the skin.
